Social interest housing

Social Interest Housing, commonly known as VIS, refers to properties that meet essential quality, construction, and habitability standards while remaining below a specific price cap. Currently, this maximum value is set at 135 times the legal minimum monthly wage (SMLV). The sale of these properties is specifically targeted toward low-income individuals looking to rent or purchase their first home.

The primary goal of VIS development projects is to guarantee the fundamental right of every citizen to have a roof over their head. To support this, the Government provides grants and subsidies for the most vulnerable members of society. In the case of VIS properties, housing subsidies are exclusively available to households with a combined income of no more than 4 times the legal minimum monthly wage (SMLV).

Eligibility requirements for VIS housing

To qualify for Social Interest Housing, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Having total earnings of less than 4 monthly legal minimum salaries (SMLV).
  • Not owning any other property.
  • Being affiliated with a Family Compensation Fund.
  • Never having received any type of Family Housing Subsidy granted by a Family Compensation Fund.

However, meeting all these requirements does not constitute a guarantee of any kind, as social interest housing is allocated based on the applicants' income levels. In other words, even if you meet all criteria, an applicant with a lower income than yours will be placed higher on the waiting list.
